Guide to Municipal or Regional Airports Within Texas

An Overlook: Guide to Municipal or Regional Airports Within Texas

Are you planning to fly to Texas? One thing you will notice is that there is no lack of airports within the state. Dozens of airports ranging from small municipal airports to huge international airports are scattered throughout the state. For the most part, you will only deal with these smaller airports if you are heading to smaller cities and towns and do not want to drive yourself. Large cities like Dallas, Austin, El Paso and Houston have larger airports and rental car booths on site.

When flying into small areas, it is important to bring something to help pass the time. Many municipal airports lack restaurants, shops or even snack bars, so if your flight is delayed, you will find little in the way of entertainment. Carrying a book or magazine is the best plan.

Check-in is usually much quicker because there are no long lines or waiting. You may find that the security check is an easier process as well because of the lower number of passengers. A security check is still required, no matter what airport you use. Remember to allow extra time to clear security checkpoints. Generally, the most important issue involves carrying no more than three ounces of liquid in any product and making sure you tell the security agent about everything you are carrying that might raise alarm (batteries, cell phone, etc.)

Regional airports do not remain open 24/7, however. Many regional or municipal airports in Texas have set hours when the terminals are open, so it is important to make sure the terminal doors will be unlocked when you arrive. Lingering outside an airport can cause problems with security measures, so you are bound to draw attention to yourself.

Finally, check to see if you can find an online map of the airport terminal. This simple step can save you valuable time when it comes to finding the parking area, terminal entrances and check in counter location.
